New Directions Education is currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work within a BASE (Behaviour, Attendance, Support & Engagement) provision in a welcoming primary school in Birkenhead. These roles are available on an ad hoc basis, with the potential for long-term placements for the right candidates.

About the Role:
You will be supporting children with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and other learning needs. The BASE team plays a crucial role in helping pupils regulate, develop confidence, and re-engage positively with learning.

Your Key Responsibilities:
– Providing 1:1 or small-group support within the BASE provision
– Supporting children with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
– Helping pupils access learning in a calm, structured environment
– Working closely with the SENCO and behaviour support leads
– Implementing personalised support plans
– Maintaining a nurturing, patient and supportive approach at all times
We’re Looking For:
– Experience working with children with SEND or SEMH needs
– Strategies and confidence in behaviour management
– A calm, resilient and compassionate personality
– Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
– Flexibility for ad hoc work and openness to long-term opportunities
