Job Description

New Directions Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Chester seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in Year 2 with Autism. This full-time position begins in September 2025 and is expected to continue on a long-term basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism
  • Implement individual learning strategies and assist with daily tasks
  • Support emotional regulation and social interaction
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress
  • Promote a calm, inclusive and supportive learning space

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with pupils with SEN, particularly Autism
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices
  • Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills
  • Minimum Level 2 TA qualification (Level 3 preferred)
  • Full-time availability from September 2025

Job Specification

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
