Job Description
New Directions Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Full-Time Teaching Assistant to support a child with complex Autism/ASD in a Year 3 class at a welcoming Primary School in Ellesmere Port.
This long-term role is to begin from September 2025, and is perfect for someone with a calm, consistent and compassionate approach to 1:1 support.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex ASD
Supporting emotional regulation, routine, and transitions throughout the day
Working alongside the SENCO and external agencies to implement strategies
Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
Creating a structured, nurturing environment with clear boundaries
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
Has strong experience working with children with Autism, ideally complex needs
Understands sensory needs and how to support with emotional regulation
Is confident using visual schedules, routines and communication tools
Can remain patient, positive and consistent throughout the school day
Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent experience)

Job Specification
Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.
We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;
NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).
We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
