Dave’s Giving Back Day

Posted on

At New Directions, we take both pride and gratitude in the dedication of our employees to their communities, charitable causes, and making a positive impact.

Dave Lewis, our esteemed Designated Child Safeguarding Officer, recently used his Giving Back Day to raise funds for the NSPCC – an organisation that plays a crucial role in supporting abused children in rebuilding their lives, safeguarding children at risk, and actively working to prevent child abuse.

Accompanied by his friends Tim, Tom, and Ellie, Dave embarked on an inspiring journey, taking on the Three Peaks Challenge in Wales. This venture entails conquering three peaks – Snowdon in the North, Cadair Idris in mid-Wales and Pen y Fan in the South. Covering a total walking distance of 17 miles (27.4 km) and ascending 2334 meters (7657 ft) within a typically challenging 24-hour period, Dave and the team achieved an impressive feat, completing the challenge in just under ten hours.

“The breathtaking views from all three mountains were truly magnificent, but encountering sleet in July and experiencing the sensation of being blown off the top of Yr Wyddfa like Mary Poppins were unexpected challenges. Nevertheless, we feel blessed to live in such a beautiful country”, said Dave.

We commend David and his team for their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and for their enduring support of such an important cause. Together, we can create a safer and brighter future for children in need.

The NSPCC’s invaluable efforts in supporting vulnerable children and preventing child abuse are what inspired David’s remarkable fundraising venture. If you share the same passion and would like to support David’s Giving Back Day for the NSPCC, visit his JustGiving page.
