New Directions Education is proud to be supporting a SEMH school in Salford that is looking for an SEMH Teacher to cover Humanities for the upcoming academic year. This role is full-time and will work across KS3-4 covering a variety of subjects across Humanities – teaching classes of up to 10 students. Experience of teaching pupils with SEMH & Complex Needs in Specialist Provision such as: SEMH Schools, Alternative Provisions or PRU Schools is desirable. Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teacher
• Teaching KS3-4 pupils with SEMH & Complex Needs
• Teaching a range of subjects within Humanities to KS3 & KS4
• Working with other teachers, support staff as well as outside agencies to ensure the highest level of teaching and learning for hard to reach students
• Planning, teaching and assessing across the curriculum
Personal Specification of SEMH Teacher
• Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have a strong understanding of SEND Needs such as: SEMH & Complex Needs
• Have at least a years experience working in SEMH (Alternative Provision, SEMH School, PRU or Mainstream School)
• Have a strong ability to forge relationships with pupils that are hard to reach
• Have a strong understanding of behaviour management – through de-escalation techniques
