Teaching Assistant – PE & Active Learning, Cardiff

Job Description

We are recruiting enthusiastic Teaching Assistants with a passion for PE, active learning, and supporting children’s development. Through agency work, you’ll have the chance to work in a variety of settings—primary, secondary, and additional learning needs (ALN/SEND) schools—making each day exciting and rewarding.

In this role, you’ll not only support pupils in their academic learning but also help them grow in confidence, teamwork, and resilience through physical activity, play, and inclusive participation. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or leading a small group, you’ll inspire children and young people to stay active, engaged, and motivated.

We are looking for people who are:

• Energetic, adaptable, and passionate about PE and active learning.
• Positive role models who inspire and motivate pupils.
• Patient, caring, and confident supporting a range of ages and abilities.
• Reliable and flexible, ready to work in different schools through agency placements.

Desirable: Experience in schools, coaching, youth work, or supporting pupils with SEND. Qualifications in sport, fitness, or education would be an advantage, but genuine passion and commitment are most important.

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
