New Directions Education is seeking a proactive and confident Cover Supervisor to join a well-established secondary school in Southport. This role is ideal for candidates with strong school-based experience who are comfortable leading lessons and maintaining high standards of behaviour across KS3 and KS4.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom in the absence of the teacher, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task. You will be expected to confidently manage behaviour, follow the school’s policies, and create a calm and purposeful learning atmosphere.
You will:
Supervise whole classes across a variety of subjects
Ensure work set by teaching staff is completed to a high standard
Manage behaviour effectively and assertively
Provide clear instructions and maintain classroom control
Report back to teaching staff on progress and any issues

About You
Previous experience working within a secondary school setting is essential
Confident commanding a classroom and leading from the front
Strong behaviour management skills
Professional, resilient, and adaptable
Interested in progressing into teacher training or education long-term (desirable)
Requirements
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Employment references covering the last 5 years
