New Directions Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic Youth Workers who are looking to gain school-based experience working with children and young people in primary and secondary schools across Chester. This is an ideal opportunity for youth practitioners who want to broaden their skills, gain classroom experience, and understand the school environment while supporting pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development.
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
• Supporting pupils in a classroom or small group setting
• Assisting teachers and learning support staff with learning activities
• Promoting positive behaviour, social skills, and engagement in learning
• Delivering structured activities under the guidance of teaching staff
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Observing and supporting children’s development across social, emotional, and academic areas
• Gaining practical experience of school routines, policies, and safeguarding procedures
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with children or young people in youth work or related settings
• A patient, adaptable, and caring approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development
• A willingness to learn about the school environment and teaching practice
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
