We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join a specialist secondary SEND setting, supporting young people aged 11–19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The school community supports students with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), associated conditions and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where every young person can achieve their full potential.
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students’ learning, personal development and wellbeing. You will help create positive learning experiences, promote independence and contribute to a safe and supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support students in accessing learning activities both in and out of the classroom.
Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and develop key skills.
Assist in implementing personalised learning programmes and behaviour support strategies.
Promote students’ social, emotional and communication development.
Support students with personal care needs where required.
Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Contribute to monitoring student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and external agencies.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
Experience of working with children or young people, preferably within a SEND setting.
An understanding of autism and additional learning needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
The ability to build effective relationships with students, families and colleagues.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
