New Directions Education is recruiting compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in mainstream schools and Special Resource Bases (SRBs) across Cardiff.
We are particularly keen to hear from positive male role models who can provide encouragement, consistency and strong relationships for pupils who thrive with positive influences. We welcome applications from everyone and are committed to recruiting the best people for the role.
These positions involve supporting children with a range of additional needs, including:
Autism (ASD)
ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication Needs
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties
Physical and Complex Needs
Whether you’ve worked as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Mentor or in another role supporting children or vulnerable adults, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Build positive, trusting relationships that help children feel safe and confident.
Support learning, communication and emotional regulation.
Encourage independence and celebrate every achievement.
Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to deliver personalised support.
Help create an inclusive, engaging and nurturing learning environment.
We’re Looking For
A patient, resilient and positive attitude.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Experience supporting children or young people is desirable but not essential.
A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
The confidence to remain calm and adaptable in different situations.
Flexibility to work across schools in Cardiff.
