Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and creative Art and Design Teacher to join a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in the Halton area. This is a full-time position, beginning in October, with the opportunity for long-term work and potential progression to a permanent contract.

The Role:

  • Teaching Art and Design across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering inspiring and practical lessons aligned with the national curriculum and GCSE specifications.
  • Planning and delivering high-quality lessons covering a range of media, techniques, and artistic disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.
  • Supporting students’ creative development through structured assessment, individualised feedback, and encouraging independent artistic exploration.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS or QTLS, with a specialism or experience in Art, Fine Art, Design, or a related subject area.
  • Have experience teaching Art and Design at secondary level, ideally with knowledge of GCSE Art and Design assessment criteria.
  • Be committed to inspiring creativity and developing a positive classroom culture where students feel confident to express themselves.
  • Be willing to complete (or already hold) an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • Be able to provide at least one recent teaching reference from within the last 5 years.
