New Directions Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and confident Behaviour Mentor to work in a small mainstream primary school in Chester. This is a full-time role supporting students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to re-engage with learning and develop positive relationships in and out of the classroom.
You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide 1:1 and small group interventions, helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
The Role:
• Supporting students with behavioural, social, or emotional needs
• Building positive relationships to encourage engagement and learning
• Implementing individual behaviour plans and strategies
• De-escalating challenging situations calmly and effectively
• Liaising with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support
• Promoting resilience, confidence, and positive behaviour throughout the school day
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (school, youth work, residential, or sports backgrounds welcome)
• Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• A genuine passion for helping young people reach their full potential
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• A commitment to safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Ideally holds a DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one
