New Directions Education is currently recruiting a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and supportive special educational needs (SEN) school in Knowsley. The Role:
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils manage their emotions, build resilience, and engage positively in learning.
Build trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model and source of encouragement throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate:
Have experience working with children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs, ideally within an SEN, PRU, or alternative provision setting.
Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills.
Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – experience in youth work, psychology, or behaviour support would also be highly valued.
Be willing to complete an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service if not already in place.
Able to provide references covering the last 5 years of employment or study.
