Are you an experienced Secondary Cover Supervisor looking for your next opportunity in Leeds?

Due to increasing demand from our partner secondary schools, New Directions Education is seeking confident and dedicated Cover Supervisors to support schools across Leeds on both a flexible supply and long-term basis.

Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor within a secondary school setting is essential for this role.

We are specifically looking for candidates who can confidently manage a classroom, deliver pre-planned lessons, and maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in the teacher’s absence.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading lessons across a variety of subjects, ensuring students remain focused and complete the work set by their teacher. You’ll be a key part of the school day, providing consistency and support to both students and staff.

No two days are the same, making this an exciting and rewarding role for experienced education professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and positively
• Ensure students remain engaged and on task throughout lessons
• Support learning and encourage student participation
• Follow school behaviour and safeguarding policies
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Provide lesson feedback to teaching staff

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Secondary Cover Supervisor
• Experience managing classrooms independently
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Confidence working with students across a range of age groups and abilities
• A professional, reliable, and adaptable approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
