As a leader in Education Recruitment and a Preferred Supplier to The National Procurement Service (NPS) New Directions Education are able to provide excellent opportunities across North Wales and subsequently Flintshire.
This is a role primarily focused on supporting a group of Flintshire Secondary schools but has the flexibility of working within the Primary schools in those clusters too.
The role within a secondary school would be similar to that of a Cover Supervisor where you would be asked to cover lessons where teachers are taking PPA time. There would also be elements of classroom support within this role too.
If you are a teaching assistant already and looking for the next challenge or a sports coach looking to pursue a career within education then this role could be the perfect platform to gain experience.
Working as a Cover Supervisor can be a very rewarding but very demanding role. Schools may wish to employ staff for cover supervision but on occasions where they are not needed for cover, they might also be released to provide additional support to Teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks.
Ideally, candidates will be required to:
Develop curricular knowledge in line with the school requirements
Apply the school’s behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class Teacher/senior leadership team
Set homework in line with the classroom Teacher requirements
Provide homework under the guidance of the class Teacher
Administer class tests if requested
Supervise the work of the Teaching Assistant, providing support if required
Abide by and work towards all policies within the school, eg – behaviour management, health and safety, equal opportunities
Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short term absence of the class Teacher
Ensure students remain on task through classroom management
You will not be required to plan lessons, but will have the opportunity to lead the class
Assisting students where required and ensuring lessons are delivered
Collect completed work and pass to the class teacher.
