Job Description
New Directions Education are one of the preferred suppliers to schools across Blaenau Gwent, and due to continued demand, we are looking to increase our bank of English Teachers. You will be based in secondary schools supporting pupils aged 11–18 years, delivering high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where available.
We are currently recruiting for highly motivated, flexible, and committed English Teachers to support secondary schools across the area.

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Are registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
Can teach English at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4)
Hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate or are willing to obtain one
Are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced teacher
Job Specification

As an English Teacher, you will be expected to:
Deliver engaging and effective English lessons across KS3 and KS4
Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with the national curriculum
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
Motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their full potential
Manage classroom behaviour effectively
Monitor and record pupils’ progress and attainment
Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
Contribute to the wider school community where required
Keep up to date with curriculum developments and educational best practice
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
EWC registration
Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
Strong classroom management skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Excellent communication and organisational skills
