We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 4 within a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, parents/carers and external professionals to support a pupil with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and delayed social development. The child may at times display behaviours that challenge, and therefore requires an adult who can remain calm, consistent, and proactive in supporting their emotional regulation and engagement with learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference to a child’s educational experience, helping them to develop academically, socially, and emotionally within a supportive school community.

Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
Support the pupil to access learning activities and the wider curriculum.
Implement strategies and interventions recommended by the SENDCo and external professionals.
Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and self-regulation skills.
Adapt communication methods to meet the child’s individual needs.
Support the development of social interaction and positive peer relationships.
Monitor and record progress, behaviour, and engagement as required.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
Contribute to the creation of a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience of working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition and/or additional needs.
Knowledge or experience of supporting children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
Understanding of child development and strategies to support social and emotional development.
The ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you)
Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of two years
