Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work in Learning Resource Base (LRB) unit’s in Primary Schools in the Monmouth area. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in supporting children with additional learning needs, ensuring they have the best opportunity to thrive and succeed in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting children with diverse learning needs in the Learning Resource Base (LRB) unit.
Providing 1:1 and small group support, under the guidance of the class teacher and LRB staff.
Assisting with the development and delivery of individualised education plans (IEPs).
Helping children to engage with their learning, reinforcing tasks and activities.
Promoting positive behaviour, encouraging social development, and building self-confidence.
Supporting pupils with personal care needs as required.
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator), and other staff members.
Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children, ideally within a school setting or with children with special educational needs (SEN).
A positive, caring, and patient approach to working with young learners.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Knowledge of special educational needs and how to support children with a range of abilities and needs (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, etc.).
An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable, but not essential.
A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
