Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work in a friendly and well-regarded primary school in the Ellesmere Port area. This is a full-time position, ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s learning and contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils in the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of lessons and activities
• Delivering targeted intervention programmes in Maths and English
• Supporting children to develop core skills in literacy and numeracy
• Working with pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND
• Promoting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience)
• Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English
• Experience delivering or supporting intervention programmes (desirable)
• Experience of the Read Write Inc phonics programme (desirable)
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) (desirable)
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
