Job Description

New Directions are seeking an inspiring, highly skilled, and enthusiastic Head of Music to lead our well-established department based in a school in Liverpool for a long term role on a part time basis, starting in September. The successful candidate will have the vision, energy, and expertise to drive forward music education across key stage 3 and 5, delivering outstanding lessons and cultivating a love of music in every student.

Our thriving Music Department plays a central role in the cultural life of the school, inspiring students to engage with music both academically and creatively.

As a Music Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of music staff.
  • Oversee extracurricular music provision, including ensembles, performances, and events.
  • Maintain discipline.
  • Lesson Planning and overseeing parents evenings
  • Be enthusiastic, flexible, creative and ambitious
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Music Department.
  • To deliver religious education lessons to groups of pupils from all abilities across ages 11 – 18. according to their educational needs and levels of ability.

The Successful Music Teacher must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience Of Teaching Music
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Able to provide Referees.
  • An up-to-date DBS Check (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Passionate about teaching Art & Design
