New Directions Education are one of the preferred suppliers to schools within Newport and we are extremely busy. We are looking to increase our bank of Music Teachers. You will be based in secondary schools providing education for pupils aged between 11-18.
We are currently recruiting for highly motivated, flexible, and committed Music Teachers to support secondary schools throughout Newport.
The work available can be on long and short-term assignments, and you can manage your own diary/availability.

Have a genuine passion for teaching Music;
Be EWC registered;
Be able to teach Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), with Key Stage 5 (KS5) experience desirable;
Have a clear DBS;

Job Specification
If you are a newly qualified teacher (NQT) or experienced Music Teacher, we offer roles which include delivering the Music curriculum from Key Stage 3 (KS3) to Key Stage 4 (KS4), with possible work at Key Stage 5 (KS5).
As a Music Teacher you’ll be expected to:
Teach all areas of the school curriculum relating to Music
Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, creative and imaginative lesson delivery
Develop students’ practical, performance and theoretical music skills
Maintain discipline in line with school policies
Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
Coordinate activities and resources within the Music department, supporting colleagues where required
Stay up to date with changes and developments in the Music curriculum
Encourage participation in performances, concerts and extracurricular activities
Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
