New Directions Education is recruiting a dedicated pool of Medical Needs Teaching Assistants to support learners across a variety of SEND settings throughout Leeds. If you are passionate about making a genuine difference to young people with complex or medical needs, this is a role where your care, resilience and empathy truly matter.
We are looking for individuals who are:
Experienced in supporting pupils with complex health or medical needs
Confident providing personal care and following individual healthcare plans
Skilled in trauma‑informed and therapeutic behaviour approaches
Team-Teach trained (desirable but not essential)
Knowledgeable across a range of SEND needs, including ASC, SLCN, and SEMH

What you’ll do as a Medical Needs Teaching Assistant:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners with medical and additional needs
Contribute to the development and delivery of EHCPs
Support sensory, practical and creative learning sessions
Build positive, consistent relationships with students, families and staff
Ensure every learner’s safety, dignity and wellbeing at all times
