New Directions Education is recruiting dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Behaviour Support Workers to work across local SEN settings.

Have experience or knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and therapeutic behaviour support
Are Team‑Teach trained or experienced in other behaviour intervention approaches
Are a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), or
Are an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career
Are calm, resilient, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
Care deeply about inclusion, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for young people
About the role:
Behaviour Support Workers play a key role in creating safe, structured, and nurturing learning environments. You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, therapists, and external agencies (including social workers) to support pupils through positive, consistent behaviour strategies.
Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for learners
Implementing behaviour management strategies and individual behaviour support plans
De‑escalating challenging behaviour using positive, approved techniques (including Team‑Teach)
Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging positive peer relationships
Contributing to multi‑agency meetings and pupil reviews
Attending regular CPD training sessions if required
Recording and reporting behavioural or safeguarding incidents in line with school policies
Communicating effectively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
