A great opportunity has opened for experienced Behaviour Support Workers to join specialist and mainstream settings across the Wakefield area. This flexible role is ideal for someone confident supporting young people who present challenging behaviour and require consistent, structured guidance.
The Role
Providing targeted behaviour support to pupils across KS3 and KS4
Using de‑escalation strategies, positive reinforcement and trauma‑informed approaches
Supporting pupils to regulate emotions, build resilience and develop positive routines
Working 1:1 and in small groups to deliver behaviour‑focused interventions
Building strong, trusting relationships that promote safety and engagement
Recording incidents, monitoring progress and feeding back to pastoral and safeguarding teams
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure consistent support
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in a similar behaviour support role
Strong behaviour management and communication skills
Ability to remain calm, patient and solution‑focused under pressure
A proactive, resilient approach with a genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing
Experience working in education or youth settings
