New Directions are currently looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Ellesmere Port and Wirral, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant your responsibilities will include:
Work with school staff to maintain good behaviour in class and during 1:1 sessions, and to monitor progress,
Quickly build strong working relationships with students, and act as a positive role model.
Assessing the needs of students and using your knowledge and specialist skills to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs,

Job Specification

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
