Job Description

New Directions Education are looking to appoint a professional and adaptable School Administrator, to work on a temporary supply basis in schools in Newport.

The nature of supply work will involve covering long and short-term temporary positions in different schools in the area, therefore all applicants must be flexible. The positions available are full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4pm, term-time only.

As school administrators are the first point of contact for the school, excellent verbal and written communication is essential. All applicants must have previous experience working in a school office, and an excellent knowledge of the School Information Management System (SIMS). Experience overseeing school finances is highly desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced School Administrator, to take on flexible work in the Newport area, whilst working as an integral part of the school support team and overseeing the day-to-day running of the busy school office.

Job Specification

We recruit a wide variety of School Office Staff roles, including school secretaries, receptionists, administrators, and school clerks.

Duties are varied and may include the following:

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS

School Office Staff must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. Working knowledge of SIMS system is advantageous.

Schools will expect all school support staff to have a good standard of education, some previous office work experience and ideally previous experience working within an educational setting.
