Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting a caring and enthusiastic Care Support Teaching Assistant to work in a warm and welcoming special educational needs school in Knowsley. The Role:

  • As a Care Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to assist in delivering tailored learning and care plans.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, focusing on communication, sensory engagement, and emotional regulation.
  • Help create a positive, structured learning environment that supports pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Have experience working within the care sector, nursing, or support work, providing personal care and emotional support to individuals with additional needs. Experience in residential care, healthcare, or community-based roles is highly valued and transferable to this position.
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs, ideally within an educational or care setting.
  • Be willing to complete an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service if not already in place.
  • Able to provide references covering the last 5 years of employment or study.
