New Directions Education is currently working with a secondary school in Ellesmere Port that seeking a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker to join their team on a long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and smooth operation of a vibrant school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
– Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the school premises.
– Conduct routine inspections of facilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
– Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks to keep the school in excellent condition.
– Manage any cleaning and maintenance staff, as necessary, fostering a positive work environment.
– Set up and dismantle equipment for school events and activities.
– Liaise with contractors and service providers for any larger maintenance projects.
Requirements:
– Previous experience as a caretaker or in a similar maintenance role, ideally within an educational setting.
– Strong practical skills and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks.
– Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
– A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.

Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
