A supportive and nurturing specialist SEND school in Knowsley is seeking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs by providing consistent support, building positive relationships, and helping pupils to engage with their learning.
The Role
• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using a calm and consistent approach
• Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs
The Ideal Candidate
• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or within a SEND setting
• Is confident in managing challenging behaviour in a patient and proactive manner
• Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils
Requirements
• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
