New Directions Education is looking for a compassionate, resilient, and skilled SEMH Teacher to support a specialist provision in the Leeds area. This position is ideal for a teacher who thrives in nurturing environments and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
The Role:
You’ll be working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, delivering tailored lessons that support both academic progress and emotional development. The role requires patience, adaptability, and a commitment to trauma‑informed practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and delivering differentiated lessons for small groups
Building trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement
Implementing behaviour regulation strategies and restorative approaches
Working closely with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
Tracking progress and adapting support as needed
Contributing to a safe, stable, and positive learning environment
We’re Looking For:
A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)
Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
A nurturing, student‑centred approach
A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
