Job Description

New Directions Education is seeking dedicated, full-time SEND Teaching Assistants to join a highly supportive specialist school in Warrington. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and who can bring compassion, commitment, and enthusiasm to this highly rewarding role.

The Role:

  • Provide consistent, full-time support within a PMLD provision for pupils aged 4–11.
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with children who require extensive support with communication, sensory learning, physical needs, and personal care.
  • Assist with structured routines, sensory-based activities, therapeutic programmes, and individual learning plans.
  • Support pupils with mobility, physiotherapy exercises (training provided), and the use of specialist equipment.
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment where pupils feel secure and supported.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Patient, resilient, and committed individuals with a genuine passion for working with children with complex needs.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND—particularly PMLD, complex needs, or physical and medical needs.
  • Experience from care, social care, the NHS, residential settings, education, or disability support roles is highly valued.
  • Comfortable providing personal care and physical support.
  • Able to commit to full-time hours from January.
  • Willing to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide references from the last 5 years.
