New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Huyton. This full-time role involves working closely with children in EYFS and KS1 who have complex needs, many of whom are non-verbal. The school welcomes applications from experienced teaching assistants as well as those without specific SEND experience but with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

The Role:
• Providing one-to-one and small group support to children in EYFS and KS1 with complex needs, including many non-verbal learners.
• Supporting pupils’ communication, social interaction, and early learning across a range of subjects and activities.
• Working alongside class teachers and the SEND team to implement personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
• Helping to create a calm, positive, and engaging learning environment tailored to individual needs.
The Ideal Candidate:
• Experience working as a teaching assistant is desirable but not essential.
• A strong passion for supporting children with SEND and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Willingness to learn and undertake any necessary training to support your role effectively.
• Able to provide employment references from the last 5 years.
• Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS background check.
