Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA – Severe Learning Difficulties)

Age Range of Pupils 4 to 19 years
Location Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham – B74
Contract Type Full-time, Monday to Friday (ONLY APPLY IF LOOKING FOR FULL TIME) 8:30am – 3:30pm Term-time only
Pay £92.45 – £95 per day £462.25 – £475 per week Weekly pay
Job Purpose We are currently looking for a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) within a specialist school in Sutton Coldfield.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with learning, communication, and independence skills.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Provide 1:1 and classroom-based support
Assist pupils with communication activities
Support sensory and practical learning sessions
Encourage independence and life skills development
Work alongside teachers and therapists
Promote a positive learning environment
Person Requirements
Experience supporting individuals with SEND
Patient and nurturing nature
Strong teamwork skills
Ability to adapt to individual needs
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant experience required, including:
Care work
Support work
SEND school experience
