These nurturing settings are designed to support children who may also have additional diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or trauma-related needs. Teaching is delivered in small class sizes, enabling a highly personalised and therapeutic approach.

About the Role:

As a Primary SEMH Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering a curriculum that meets learners at their point of need—supporting both their academic progress and emotional wellbeing. The focus is on building trust, consistency, and engagement through creative and adaptable teaching.

Requirements for this role :

  • Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Have experience working with SEMH and/or SEND learners, ideally in a primary setting
  • Use strong behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Teach with compassion, patience, and flexibility
  • Are trained in Team Teach or similar therapeutic behaviour support approaches (desirable, not essential)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver creative and differentiated lessons that engage pupils with varying levels of need
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners who may have experienced trauma or school-based anxiety
  • Support the development of emotional regulation and positive learning behaviours
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies
  • Contribute to EHCP targets, individual learning plans, and the wider pastoral development of each pupil
