Job Description

New Directions are seeking experienced Supply Teachers to work across a large trust of primary schools in Manchester, covering Gorton, Longsight, Old Trafford and the surrounding areas. Opportunities are available to start ASAP, with a mixture of regular day-to-day supply and longer-term placements. The majority of work will be pre-booked, offering the opportunity to build relationships with schools and benefit from regular work across the trust.

The schools support pupils with a range of additional needs, so we are looking for teachers with previous classroom experience or confident ECTs who can adapt their teaching to meet different learning, behavioural and emotional needs.

The Role

  • Delivering engaging lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, depending on the school and placement.
  • Following lesson plans and ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absence.
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Adapting teaching and activities to support pupils with a range of abilities and additional needs.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, including those who may require additional guidance to access learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and other school staff.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and maintaining consistent classroom expectations.
  • Taking on regular day-to-day cover, with opportunities for longer-term placements where available.

The Candidate

  • Previous primary classroom teaching experience is highly desirable.
  • Confident ECTs will also be considered.
  • Able to manage a classroom confidently and deliver lessons effectively.
  • Flexible and adaptable when working across different schools and year groups.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or challenging behaviour would be advantageous.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to create a positive, inclusive classroom.
  • Reliable, professional and confident working independently.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Available to work across Manchester, including Gorton, Longsight, Old Trafford and surrounding areas.

This is a great opportunity for teachers looking for regular supply work within a supportive network of schools, with the potential to secure longer-term placements. Candidates should be confident working with pupils who may have additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs and be ready to make a positive impact from day one.
