Treorchy Comprehensive has been listed 2nd best school in Wales in a new so-called “league table” which lists every secondary school in Wales by its background and performance.
The figures – the first of their kind ever seen in Wales – rank every secondary school by its teaching and the impact staff have on pupil attainment. Cynffig Comprehensive in Bridgend performed 19% above expectation and came out on top of the all-Wales pile, with Treorchy Comprehensive in Rhondda Cynon Taf (16%) coming second. Excluding English, Maths and Welsh, Treorchy ranked highest. Treorchy headteacher Rhys Jones said: “If we are deemed to be adding good value to the learning of our pupils I am very pleased. We do a lot of that and our staff work very hard to add value to their pupil’s education.”
