We’re proud to announce we’re the main headline sponsors of this year’s South Wales School & Education awards.

The event, being held at Chepstow Racecourse on Wednesday 28th July, celebrates schools, staff and pupils across the Gwent and surrounding regions.

There are 14 awards on offer ranging from School of the Year to the Above and Beyond Award.

“We thought this was the perfect opportunity to show our support for the unsung heroes of the classroom. Those who work in Education play such an important part in shaping the minds, thoughts and experiences of our future generations and are a vital part of our community.

“When we saw the range of awards on offer where as well as individuals being recognised, there are awards for classrooms and schools, we simply couldn’t choose just one award to sponsor so chose to be the headline sponsor for the overall awards”, commented Gary Williams, Chief Commercial Officer.

Community is one of New Directions company values and part of our ethos.  We believe in giving back to the community in a variety of ways and with more than 10% of our workforce placed in schools across the Gwent county, sponsoring these awards gave us an opportunity to do just that.

“Not only do these awards celebrate the best of the best in our community, but they also provide a much-needed boost for our schools which continue to navigate a changing curriculum, challenging exam periods and the continued aftermath of Covid.

“We mustn’t forget that those working in Education during the time of Covid, our key workers, are still adjusting and catching up from the unforeseen impact that the virus had on our Education system. Not only was this felt by teaching staff, but it also affected – and still is affecting – the pupils, their families and the local communities.

“We hope that by sponsoring these awards, it demonstrates our appreciation for the sector as a whole and the variety of people that it takes to make it work.  Also, to shine a spotlight on certain individuals and show that their efforts have not gone unnoticed, by being recognised and rewarded for the work they’ve achieved this past academic year”, added Gary.

Being one of Wales’ largest education recruitment and training providers of supply and permanent staff throughout the education sector, we have nearly 30 years’ experience in recruitment. We’re an established partner and fundamental supplier to the Welsh education sector and work closely with primary and secondary schools on a daily basis.

“The agency branched out into education recruitment back in 1999 and is now the oldest teaching agency in Wales.  We have several branches established across the country with over 2,000 people out working in the sector at any one time in teaching and ancillary roles. However, we have imminent plans to expand further into England, focusing on the North West region”, added Gary.
