New Directions Education is on the hunt for compassionate, resilient, and upbeat 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support children in primary schools who have additional learning needs (ALN) and/or behavioural challenges. Every day is different – and every day, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference.
What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll work closely with a child on a 1:1 basis, helping them to feel safe, supported, and included in the classroom. Whether it’s helping them understand their lessons, regulate their emotions, or just feel more confident in themselves – your role is to be their cheerleader and trusted support.
You might be supporting children with:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ADHD
Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Speech, language, and communication difficulties
Behavioural challenges
What We’re Looking For:
A caring and empathetic nature – someone who truly wants to help children thrive
A positive attitude and good sense of humour – you can find the fun in the little things!
Experience supporting children (school, care, or youth work experience welcome)
Confidence working with challenging behaviour and/or additional needs
Patience, resilience, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships
Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to apply for one
