Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants to work in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Kirkby. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are keen to support children on a one-to-one basis, helping them to achieve their full potential in the classroom.

This role is ideal for those looking to start a career in education or who have experience in sectors such as care, youth work, social work, or sports coaching and want to apply their skills in a school setting.

The Role:

  • Work one-to-one with a pupil who may require extra help with learning, behaviour, or emotional regulation.
  • Support the pupil throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Encourage participation, build positive relationships, and help pupils develop key social and learning skills.
  • Be part of a wider team dedicated to inclusion and pupil wellbeing.

  • No prior classroom experience is necessary – full support and training will be provided.
  • Ideal for those with experience in care, youth work, social services, or similar fields.
  • Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide references from the past five years.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine desire to help children succeed are essential.
