New Directions Education is delighted to be recruiting a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Trauma-Informed Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Wallasey. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of young people by supporting students who have experienced trauma and face emotional or behavioural challenges.
The Role:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
• Support pupils to regulate emotions, build resilience, and engage positively with learning
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement trauma-informed strategies
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
• Support students both in and out of the classroom to help them achieve their full potential
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with children or young people with trauma, SEMH, or additional needs (school or alternative provision experience desirable)
• A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support strategies
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people
All candidates must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check.
