A specialist SEND primary school in South Liverpool is seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to support pupils with complex needs. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The school provides a highly structured and nurturing environment for children with a range of complex needs, including pupils who are non-verbal. Staff work collaboratively to deliver personalised learning and care, ensuring every child is supported to reach their full potential.
The Role
• Plan and deliver personalised lessons tailored to pupils with complex needs
• Teach pupils who may be non-verbal, using a range of alternative communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, visual aids)
• Lead a small class with the support of experienced teaching assistants
• Develop and implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans
• Work closely with support staff and external professionals (e.g. therapists)
The Ideal Candidate
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Has previous experience supporting children or adults with complex needs (essential)
• Has experience working with non-verbal pupils or a strong willingness to develop in this area
• Demonstrates a patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
• Has a good understanding of SEND, particularly complex needs and communication difficulties
Requirements
• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
