New Directions Education are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Support Assistants to work in primary schools across Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them to access learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
• Supporting students with a range of SEND needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of lessons and adapted learning activities
• Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
• Supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Using tailored strategies to meet individual needs, including communication and sensory support
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable)
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
