New Directions Education is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of schools in the Leeds area.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs to achieve their full potential. You’ll work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom.
We have opportunities available in:
Primary schools
Secondary schools
Specialist provisions and SEN schools
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
Assist students with a range of needs, including: Autism (ASC)
ADHD
Learning disabilities
Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
Help implement individual education plans (IEPs)
Support pupils with communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school or care setting desirable)
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) are desirable but not essential.
