New Directions Education is recruiting a pool of committed SEND Teachers to work across a range of specialist provisions in Leeds. These supportive settings cater for pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and learning difficulties. Smaller class sizes enable a highly personalised and inclusive approach to teaching.
About the Role
As an SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering a curriculum that meets learners at their individual point of need—supporting both their academic progress and personal development.
You will focus on creating a structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environment, using adaptable teaching strategies to support a wide range of learning styles and abilities.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will:
Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification
Have experience working with SEND learners, ideally in a primary or specialist setting
Demonstrate strong differentiation and inclusive teaching practices
Be patient, flexible, and committed to supporting individual needs
Have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
Be trained in Team Teach or similar approaches (desirable but not essential)
Key Responsibilities
Deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to a range of SEND needs
Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils to promote confidence and engagement
Support pupils with a variety of needs, including ASC, SLCN, and moderate learning difficulties
Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
Contribute to EHCP targets, individual learning plans, and pupil progress reviews
Create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment where every child can succeed
