Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work within Resource Provisions across Leeds.

These specialist provisions support pupils with a range of additional needs while allowing them to benefit from mainstream school environments. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and personally.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant within a Resource Provision, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning plans.
  • Assist pupils in accessing both specialist provision activities and mainstream classroom learning where appropriate.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
  • Help develop pupils’ communication, social, emotional, and independence skills.
  • Adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Experience in SEN schools, resource provisions, mainstream education, childcare, care settings, or support work would be highly beneficial.
