New Directions Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN provision in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate education professional who is committed to supporting children and young people with special educational needs to achieve their full potential.
Working as part of a skilled and supportive team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences, supporting pupil development, and helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The Role
As a HLTA within this SEN setting, you will:
Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes when required.
Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement personalised learning plans.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Assist in creating a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.
Support pupils in developing independence, confidence and social skills.
About You
We are looking for a HLTA who has:
HLTA status or equivalent relevant qualification.
Previous experience working within an SEN environment.
A strong understanding of a range of special educational needs and effective support strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
