New Directions Education is currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Cover Supervisor to work within specialist and mainstream settings across the Leeds area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and proactive individual who has previous Cover Supervisor experience and a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The Role
As a SEND Cover Supervisor, you will:
Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task.
Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities across a range of subjects.
Support pupils with a variety of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
Manage classroom behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
Adapt activities where necessary to support individual learning needs.
Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to maintain a positive learning environment.
Foster an inclusive atmosphere where all pupils feel supported and valued.
Essential Requirements
Previous Cover Supervisor experience is essential.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
