Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA – ASD & Challenging Behaviour)

Location Lea Hall, Birmingham – B33
Contract Type Full-time, Monday to Friday (ONLY APPLY IF LOOKING FOR FULL TIME) 8:30am – 3:30pm Term-time only Long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent
Pay £92.52 – £102.83 per day £462.60 – £514.15 per week Weekly pay
Job Purpose We are currently looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and behaviours that challenge within a specialist setting in Lea Hall.
This rewarding Teaching Assistant role involves supporting pupils to access learning, develop communication skills, and regulate emotions within a highly structured environment. Local specialist provisions in the area support pupils with a combination of learning and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Provide 1:1 and small group TA support
Implement individual behaviour support plans
Support communication using visual strategies
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists
Promote pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
Person Requirements
Experience supporting autism and/or behaviours that challenge
Calm and consistent approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to remain resilient in a fast-paced environment
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant experience required, including:
Support work
Care work
Tutoring
Teaching Assistant work
SEND school experience
