A mainstream primary school based within Small Heath is looking for a level 3 qualified teaching assistant to work within their complex autism resource base. The school takes pride in supporting all learners to achieve their full potential. The resource base has been created to ensure that children who specialist support receive it.
The teaching assistant will be based within the school’s resourced provision for complex autistic individuals. The ages of the children accessing the hub are range from 4 to 11years), all of which have a lead diagnosis of autism or are on the pathway for diagnosis. Their additional needs comprise of varying levels of speech language and communication needs (SLCN), sensory processing difficulties, social and emotional dysregulation and can display behaviour that challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Working on a 1:1 and/or small group basis with young children aged 4-11 years
Supporting autistic children with additional needs (SLCN, social and emotional dysregulation, sensory processing difficulties, behaviour that challenges)
Supporting learning and development in all areas
Working as part of a team with the teacher and TAs in the hub
Providing feedback to the teacher and parents
Person Requirements
Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification ( the school will not accept qualifications that are not education/childcare related)
Experience in supporting complex, autistic children
Experience working with high needs individuals
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Dedication and resilience
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you)
Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of two years
