Job Description

We are looking to appoint a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our committed team based in St. Helens. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, parents, and external agencies to provide tailored support that helps pupils overcome barriers to learning. You will play a key role in promoting independence, confidence, and wellbeing while ensuring every pupil feels valued, respected, and supported.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with a range of SEND needs.
  • Support teachers with differentiated and engaging learning activities.
  • Help students with their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, social development and independence.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and other learning difficulties.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable.
  • Patient, caring and proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
